Carefree Car Ownership
Child safety practices for car owners
Now that children are out of school and ready to embark on those summer adventures, it's inevitable for them to be with you in the car on a more regular basis. For this reason, it's important to remember things that might keep them safer while you're occupied behind the wheel.
With children comes more distractions, so be sure to keep them busy in order to prevent having to pull over and stop in the middle of a highway, which poses even more of a risk. DVD players and portable game systems might just do the trick. You can even attempt to stimulate their education by giving them a simple children's book to glimpse at.
When you're making a stop at the pharmacy or post office, it's important for you to bring the children inside, even if your task will only take a few minutes. Small children should never be left unattended in the vehicle, but during the summer this is even more crucial. The young ones become hotter and colder much faster than adults, making them far more susceptible to heat exhaustion.
Keeping these tips in mind will make the commute to ball games or swimming pools less of a hassle and make it easier for you to relax upon reaching those fantastic summer destinations.
