Items to keep in your car to prepare for a hotel stay
Hitting the open road this summer may steer you toward a hotel for the night, especially if you're driving long distances. Pack essential items near the top of your luggage so you'll have access to them during a hotel stay.
Travel clothes
During a lengthy vacation, you'll likely pack enough clothes to last for two or three weeks. When staying for one night at a hotel, it can be extremely inconvenient for you and your family members to lug gigantic suitcases of clothes to the room - especially since you'll only need one change of clothes. Encourage all family members to bring a separate duffel bag for casual travel clothes and toiletries.
Electrical components
If you have a full day of driving ahead after you check out from the hotel, make sure all your crucial electronics are charged in the room while you still have an outlet available. Carry a separate case to stow cellphone, iPod and camera battery chargers, which will ensure that no one is deprived of personal technology to make the trip more engaging.
