How to escape from a sinking car
Finding yourself trapped in a sinking car can be one of the most terrifying situations imaginable. Luckily, there are several steps that should ensure your survival. Here are some car safety tips to remember.
Unbuckle
Before you do anything else, make sure you immediate unbuckle your seat belt to ensure mobility. Remain calm and locate the door handle.
Roll down the windows
The car will float for a few minutes before it begins to sink, giving you time to unlock the door and roll down the window to escape.
Equalize pressure
If the car's electrical system has failed as a result of water damage and you can't lower your window, there is still another option. While water pressure will prevent you from opening the door while there's still air in the car, wait until the car fills with water to open the door and make your escape. Doing so will allow the pressure to even out, making the door easier to open.
